Scope and content:
  1. Peabody was a homeopathic pharmacist doing business in Boston. He was Nathaniel Hawthorne's brother-in-law, Hawthorne having married Sophia Peabody.
  2. The Clapp referred to in the letter was Otis Clapp, of the Boston pharmacy Otis Clapp which continued to operate until the 1950s, "and without benefit of a soda fountain and such-like."
